Diet: Eat iron-rich, healthy meals (meat, leafy greens, legumes, nuts) and avoid fatty foods, which can affect blood test results.

Alcohol/Smoking: Avoid alcohol for 24-72 hours beforehand, and do not smoke for at least an hour before.
Preparation: Wear comfortable clothing with either short sleeves or sleeves that can be rolled up.
-
Immediate Care: Sit, rest, and enjoy a snack. Keep the bandage on for 4-6 hours to prevent bleeding.
Hydration: Drink extra water or fluids (4-8 oz glasses) over the next 24 hours.
Physical Activity: Avoid heavy lifting, straining, or vigorous exercise for at least 24 hours.
If Feeling Faint: Lie down immediately with feet elevated, or sit with head between knees.
If Bleeding Occurs: Raise arm and apply direct pressure to the spot.
Nutrition: Continue eating iron-rich foods to replenish iron levels.
If Bruising Occurs: Apply a cold pack to the area for 20 minutes at a time during the first 24 hours.
Donation Campaigns & Blood Drives
Our donation campaigns and blood drives bring life-saving opportunities directly to the community and workplace. Explore our campaign calendar and use the form to register your interest in hosting a blood drive at your office or organization—because blood sustains life, and community sustains us.
Financial Contributions
Your financial support allows the Los Cabos Community Blood Bank to serve patients, uphold the highest medical standards, and strengthen community-based healthcare across Los Cabos. Every contribution helps fund the systems, equipment, and professional care required to ensure that safe blood is available when it is needed most.
This year, our goal is to raise USD $1.5 million to support Phase 1 of the Blood Bank’s launch. These funds will enable the purchase of a Blood Mobile, an Apheresis Machine—used to separate blood into its life-saving components—and help cover the first five years of operations, creating a strong and sustainable foundation for our work.
By contributing, you help ensure that blood sustains life, and community sustains us—today and for the future.
